Josh Allen injury update is bad news for Bills' QB

The Buffalo Bills have clinched a playoff spot, so the stakes of Week 17 and Week 18 are slightly lower than they could be.

They could still track down the AFC East, but the most important part is done. They'll be in the bracket no matter what.

That's a good thing, because Josh Allen is hurting.

Allen left the Bills' Week 16 game just before halftime with a right foot injury. He did come back to play the second half, but it sounds like he isn't totally out of the woods yet.

The reigning NFL MVP isn't going to take part in Wednesday's walk-through, head coach Sean McDermott told reporters.

McDermott added that the Bills will see how Allen feels on Thursday before deciding his practice plan for the rest of the week.

Buffalo takes on the Philadelphia Eagles at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, a fun matchup, to be sure.

If Allen didn't heal up, the Bills could choose to sit him in favor of backup Mitchell Trubisky. That could also be in the cards for Week 18 depending on how the standings shift this week.

There's still a lot of time this week for Allen to get on the field, get prepared and take the field against the Eagles like usual.

But the one thing the Bills can't afford more than any other, and that's a longer-term injury to Allen. So they'll be as careful as they can be down the stretch here.
