The Buffalo Bills had a mixed season last year, in that they certainly did well, but not well enough. Obviously, the biggest fallout from the Bills losing in the Divisional Round playoff game was Buffalo parting ways with longtime coach Sean McDermott. That was a huge change for this franchise.
Now, the Bills are heading into a new season with Joe Brady at the helm. Expectations are high, but perhaps not high enough to make this franchise go into full-blown panic mode.
On Wednesday, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report released a feature ranking each of the NFL teams on a "panic meter" heading into the new season. "In an era when endless entertainment is one swipe away, nobody wants to wait out a multi-year rebuild—unless there's a clear light at the end of the tunnel," he notes in the piece.
Bills' panic meter is at 6/10
The Bills have a fairly low panic meter of 6/10. It's not perfect, but considering that a lot of NFL teams have a panic meter of 9/10 or even 10/10, it's pretty good.
But there's a catch. That could change, Gagnon notes.
"Josh Allen should have many good years ahead at 30, and the Bills are experimenting with a tweaked coaching staff," he says. "This remains in check for now but likely shoots up to 9 if they fall short of the Super Bowl again in 2026."
That's quite a caveat. So, if the Bills don't make it to the big game, this franchise's panic meter is going to go sky-high. It's just another piece of motivation for Allen and company to succeed.
