Where in Maine is Jordon Hudson from?

Hudson is from Hancock, Maine. She wrote on social media about her hometown when she decided to participate in Miss Maine for 2025.

"I couldn’t think of a better day to share with the world that I will be competing for Miss Maine USA 2025; representing my hometown Hancock," Hudson wrote in April.

In another social media post, Hudson recently advocated for Maine fishermen and spoke to her own family's history in fishing.

"Seriously, though. I was practically born on the waters of Hancock Point, Maine; just as my father had been, and his father, and his father…. since before the American Revolutionary War," Hudson wrote. "And now as the daughter of displaced fishermen, I care to use my voice to protect the fleeting tradition and heritage of Maine fishing families, to prevent others from going through the same plight as what mine had to go through."

How does Miss Maine competition work?

Miss Maine is part of the Miss Universe Organization, which consists of pageant competitions and has a goal of creating "opportunities for women around the world through its network of relationships across entertainment, fashion and philanthropy." The winner of all state competitions, like Miss Maine, advance to the Miss America pageant.

According to the Miss Maine website, the competition is open to "all women who meet the eligibility requirements," which does not include prior pageant experience. This year's event is being held in Portland, Maine on May 10 and 11.

The pageant is judged in three areas of competition: Interview, Swimsuit and Evening Gown. The judges grade the contestants based on their character, poise, confidence, and personality. There is no performing talent competition.

Three semifinalists are named immediately following the opening number of the finals.

Miss Maine is one of four state competitions that hasn't yet produced a Miss America winner, alongside South Dakota, West Virginia and Wyoming.
