LeBron James running for President receives favorable news as retirement looms

LeBron James has said "I don't know" when asked about his NBA future.

If he wants, there might be another high-profile gig for him to pursue.

There's been some social media push for James to run for President as a representative of the Democratic Party.

Recent polling data suggests James would get support.

Bowling Green State University in Ohio recently surveyed 800 voters about the validity of a James run.

The results showed, via the Sandusky Register:

  • 37% rated James favorable
  • 32% were unfavorable
  • 31% had no opinion

The BGSU study notes that one of Ohio's U.S. senators, Jon Husted, had ratings of 24% liked and 23% disliked before his election.

James, 40 years old and also known as the King, has tens of millions of social media followers. He has previously backed Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

It seems likely at this point that James has at least one, and maybe two, more NBA seasons to come.

If he sticks around for two years, there's at least the conceptual opportunity to play with his son Bryce James, who is about to be a freshman at Arizona (but likely won't be ready for the NBA after a one-and-done season).

James hasn't alluded to any future interest in being in politics himself, but it'd certainly garner lots of attention and plenty of strong emotions if he went for it.
