A WWE Hall of Famer believes John Cena will leave more than a legendary legacy once he officially retires on December 13. Cena might have created a new normal for the company that could be used for other fellow legends.

Cena made history this past Monday on RAW, beating Dominik Mysterio to become the Intercontinental Champion for the first time in his career. He also achieved Grand Slam Champion status, etching his name on the record books once again.

The GOAT has three appearances left in his farewell tour, with WWE introducing The Last Time Is Now tournament to determine his final opponent. One of John Cena's early rivals, Booker T, a two-time Hall of Famer, thinks tournaments could be the norm to find out a retiring star's last foe.

"This might be something that's gonna be normal for guys when they are ready to leave. That’s how I see it. This is great. It’s a great idea. The way I see it, having these young guys fight for their position and have one of those young guys do get that position and rise up at the same time," Booker T said on the Hall of Fame podcast.

Out of the 16 participants, 10 stars have already been revealed. Sheamus and Rusev punched their ticket to the quarterfinals by eliminating Shinsuke Nakamura and Damian Priest, respectively. Both Sheamus and Rusev have history with John Cena.

This Friday on SmackDown, The Miz is set to take on Jey Uso, while LA Knight faces a mystery opponent. And for next week's RAW in Madison Square Garden, Gunther will go head-to-head against Je'Von Evans, with Solo Sikoa also waiting for the name of his mystery opponent.

AJ Styles set to follow John Cena's footsteps into retirement

In addition to John Cena, another WWE legend is set to retire soon. AJ Styles announced at Crown Jewel: Perth that he will be hanging up his boots next year. It's unknown if Styles is going to get a farewell tour like Cena or when his final match is going to happen.

Based on Booker T's suggestion, the company could hold another tournament to determine AJ Styles' final opponent. It could help build future stars, especially if they send Styles into retirement with a loss.
