Jim Thome's son Landon put up absurd HS baseball stats before MLB Draft potential

8 hours ago 3

It's not that long ago that Landon Thome was just the little dude at the MLB ballparks with his dad Jim, like the picture above.

Now, though, Landon has grown into the best high school baseball player in the state of Illinois.

Thomas has been named the Gatorade Illinois Baseball Player of the Year for the 2025-26 school year.

He played for Nazareth Academy and set the program record in triples and in stolen bases.

Multiple replies noted that his speed may have come from his mother.

Thomas is a Florida State commit, although it seems likely he'll be involved in the MLB Draft in some capacity.

His final senior season stats to close out his high school career included:

  • .535 batting average
  • 7 home runs
  • 29 RBI
  • 8 triples
  • 1.676 OPS
  • 49 stolen bases

CBS Chicago did a cool story on Thome, too, with some great clips and pictures:

Landon Thome certainly got some great baseball genes, but he also made the most of his talent so far.

This is still likely just the start of a special baseball journey to come.
