The New York Jets are going to be making a lot of changes this offseason. A lot of those changes will come in the form of free agent signings and draft picks.
But the trade market is an area to exploit as well. And while the league year hasn't started yet, the Jets are already getting active in the trade market.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Jets are sending 2022 first-round pass rusher Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans for 2024 second-round defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat in a rare player-for-player trade.
Jets send Jermaine Johnson to Titans for T'Vondre Sweat
"Trade! The Titans have agreed to send NT T'Vondre Sweat to the Jets for DE Jermaine Johnson, per sources," Pelissero reports.
This trade is the first one of the offseason, and the Jets are beginning to reshape the roster. Johnson is now headed to Tennessee and will get to reunite with Robert Saleh, who was his coach when he made the Pro Bowl in 2023.
In his Jets career, across four seasons, Johnson had 13 total sacks, 131 tackles, 27 quarterback hits, 20 tackles for loss, and one interception in 47 games.

Johnson had just one more year of team control, while the player they're getting back from the Titans, Sweat, is under contract for two more seasons.
Sweat is a nose tackle and will be a huge presence, both figuratively and literally, as the 6-foot-4, 366-pound interior lineman has been a great defender for the Titans the last two years.
In his 29 games since being drafted 38th overall two years ago, Sweat has just three sacks, to go with 85 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits.
He's a young, ascending interior lineman who is a good run defender and should be a nice replacement for Quinnen Williams for the next few seasons.
