The New York Jets missed the 2025 NFL playoffs by a massive margin, as they won just three games, with the leading receiver not catching a pass since early October and the defense failing to get one interception all year.
It was a brutal season, but at least they weren't alone in their playoff torment across the four major American sports, as their playoff streak was still in lock-step with the Buffalo Sabres for the longest active playoff drought.
However, as ESPN's Rich Cimini shared, the Jets got some brutal news as the Sabres made the NHL playoffs. The Jets now stand alone as the team with the longest active playoff drought. And it doesn't look like it's going to end anytime soon.
Jets' playoff drought stands alone after Sabres news
"No longer are they linked in infamy, as the Sabres clinched a playoff berth Saturday to snap their 14-year postseason drought - the longest in NHL history - with six games to spare," Cimini writes.
Now, standing alone at the mountain top of active years, missing the playoffs are the New York Jets, who had missed the playoffs for 15 straight seasons.
All the way back in 2010, when Rex Ryan was still with the team, and Mark Sanchez was the starting quarterback, was the last time that Jets fans got to watch their team in the playoffs.
It's been 15 years since the Jets were in the playoffs, which is the longest active streak across the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA.

Fortunately, it's not the record for most years missing the playoffs, as that record belongs to the Arizona Cardinals, who missed 25 straight years of playoff football.
Cimini also shared that the MLB slump was held by the Washington Nationals (formerly known as the Montreal Expos) for 29 years, while the NBA's record is 16 years, held by the Sacramento Kings.
If the Jets miss the playoffs again in 2026, not only will they extend their dubious streak, but they will tie the NBA's worst playoff drought in league history.
This is some brutal history for the Jets, and with no clear end in sight, especially with a shaky roster for Aaron Glenn's second season as the Jets' head coach, this streak might continue for some time.
