The New York Jets made some significant changes to the roster this offseason, and there are plenty of players, both new and old, who could be on the verge of a breakout.
Adonai Mitchell might be a popular pick on the offensive side of the ball, but on defense, some very exciting young players could have huge 2026 seasons.
Fittingly, a huge defensive tackle, 366-pound trade pickup T'Vondre Sweat, was predicted by ESPN's Ben Solak to break out in 2026 for the Jets.
Jets' T'Vondre Sweat predicted to break out in 2026
"Sweat is a preposterously talented athlete, with considerable explosiveness at 366 pounds," Solak writes. "His effort wanes at times, but Aaron Glenn's greatest strength as a coach is how well he motivates. A fire lit under Sweat could produce one of the more dynamic nose tackles in the league."
Sweat is a 24-year-old defensive tackle who's going to turn 25 years old on July 11 and will be heading into his third season in the NFL.
Drafted in the second round at the 38th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, the Jets' new defensive tackle was acquired in a trade this offseason by sending Jermaine Johnson to Tennessee to reunite with Robert Saleh.

While there was plenty of buzz about the Titans' side of this trade, Solak is a big fan of the Jets' side, as seen by this bold breakout prediction for Sweat.
The 6-foot-4, 366-pound nose tackle has played in 29 games and made 28 starts the past two seasons, recording three total sacks, 85 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits.
As an interior defensive lineman and one slotting in at nose tackle, Sweat isn't going to put up double-digit sacks, barring one of the wilder seasons from a lineman. But he should be able to piece together a strong year.
Solak believes Sweat could breakout in 2026, thanks in part to his immense talent, and also Glenn being able to get the best out of the former Texas Longhorns defensive tackle.
