Jets pass rusher expected to make return against Broncos after missing three games

The New York Jets currently boast one of the league's worst defenses, ranking 29th in EPA/play through the first five games of the season.

They've yet to force a single turnover as well, and have only seven sacks on the season, tied for 28th worst in the league.

Things won't be getting any easier on Sunday against the 3-2 Denver Broncos, but New York is expected to get a boost with the return of a former first-round pick on the defensive line.

Jermaine Johnson expected to make return against Broncos

After missing three straight games in the wake of a Week 2 ankle injury, Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson is expected to make his return against Denver in London, England.

Johnson, a former first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, hopes to inject some life into a Jets defense that has not been able to get going so far in 2025.

The former Florida State Seminole is a jack of all trades player, and plays both the run and pass better than any other defensive end New York has on the roster.

Johnson spoke to the media from practice in England this week, and said the Jets' defense had a players-only meeting before crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

"Everybody was on the same page. We have to be better. We can't be the reason we lose. That can't happen. We have too much talent," Johnson said via ESPN's Rich Cimini.

"Coach AG [Aaron Glenn] has had our back as far as how he runs this thing, instilling a certain culture in here. We have to have his back by putting a good product out there. That's our job. We definitely take full accountability."
