First off, a missed opportunity: How is Trae Young pursuing a musical career and not going by Ice Trae?
Alas, the Atlanta Hawks guard is dropping a new album under his given name.
But the news of the album itself came pretty much out of nowhere. On Friday, Young posted on X that he's got some music coming out at midnight.
He posted the album cover, with the title, "Where I Stay."
He also shared a link to listen on YouTube, which is here in this embedded post from X:

The most exciting part for musical fans might be the two names accompanying Young on the cover.
Quavo and 2 Chainz, both from the Atlanta area themselves and both hip-hop superstars, will be joining Young on the tracks.
This wasn't totally unexpected. News emerged in August that Young was hitting the studio with Quavo.
But there hasn't been hype building around a release date, and Young just came out of the blue with news of the album drop.
We have no idea whether Hawks fans should stay up until midnight to listen. Hard to know what to expect at all.
But maybe Young will have a strong enough track on there for it to be overlaid with the Hawks' introductions for games in the 2025-26 NBA season.
It's worth tuning in, just in case Young drops bars as well as he drops dimes.
