Jets announce new OC for Aaron Glenn in former Eagles Super Bowl champion

The New York Jets 2025 season did not go to plan, and while the roster construction wasn't great, the overall play from both sides of the ball was well below expectations.

Defensively, Aaron Glenn is taking over playcalling and will look to get the defense right. But, on the offensive side of the ball, Tanner Engstrand is gone, and a new veteran voice is coming in to lead the offense.

As the Jets announced on Twitter/x, Glenn is hiring a new offensive coordinator who helped the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl, and was also a former head coach for the Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers.

Jets hire new OC in ex-Eagles Super Bowl champion

"OFFICIAL: We've hired Frank Reich as our offensive coordinator," the Jets announced on Wednesday.

Reich has been a head coach for six seasons, five with the Colts and one with the Panthers. He went 41-43-1 in that time, which included one playoff win and three winning seasons.

He was fired mid-season with the Colts in 2022, then was hired as the head coach for the Panthers and later fired near the end of the year in 2023 after just 12 games, in which the Panthers went 1-10.

What makes this hire a little more interesting is that, back in 1996, Glenn and Reich were teammates with the Jets. They started all 16 games at their respective positions, ending the year 1-15.

While it's not the best history, it's still an interesting pairing in that two former teammates are now coaching alongside each other on the same team 30 years later.

Reich won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2017, and while he wasn't calling the plays for the Eagles, his presence on the offense definitely helped the Eagles, with a backup quarterback, beat the New England Patriots and Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.

Now, nearly 10 years after that Super Bowl win, Reich is joining the Jets to be their offensive coordinator after two years away from a prominent coaching role in the NFL.
