Jaylen Waddle trade rumor from CBS Sports reveals price Steelers, Broncos have to pay

One of the hottest names being talked about ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday is Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

After it was initially believed that Waddle would not be available, the Dolphins have reportedly softened their stance at least a bit since parting ways with now-former general manager Chris Grier.

According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones on Tuesday morning, the Dolphins are looking for a first-round pick and then some. That is an extremely high price for Waddle, who is good but not that good.

Despite the high price, Jones adds that interested parties are at least considering giving up what would be a king's ransom.

"The cover charge to have a conversation with interim GM Champ Kelly on Waddle is a first rounder and then some, which is actually being discussed in some buildings even if the asking price seems unlikely to be reached," Jones reported.

Jones' report also reveals that both the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for a wide receiver, so both could be players for Waddle.

"Denver is interesting because the league believes the Broncos covet another pass catcher, but they keep winning with the group they have," Jones writes on Denver.

"Everyone knows Pittsburgh would like a receiver and they have plenty of draft picks to play with," Jones wrote on the Steelers. "Whether GM Omar Khan can dislodge one remains to be seen."

Previous reports have suggested the Broncos are looking for a field-stretching wide receiver, and we know the team could use more veteran help at a position where it's very young.

Waddle would check both of those boxes instantly while providing a proven and massive upgrade for quarterback Bo Nix.

As for the Steelers, they need to add an adequate No. 2 wideout behind DK Metcalf and Waddle would amount to a high-end one, as he could be a No. 1 on a lot of teams throughout the league.

While the price might be extremely high, Waddle is still a very good player who is under contract through 2028, so that helps soften the blow.

Waddle's contract is also very reasonable, as it comes with an annual average of $28.25 million, which ranks 12th among wideouts in the NFL.

The Broncos and Steelers are just two teams that figure to have interest in Waddle. There figures to be plenty lining up at a chance to acquire the talented wideout.
