The Denver Broncos came up just short of a Super Bowl appearance last season. Now, they're making a big swing for their 2026 hopes.
The Miami Dolphins are trading star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos, Adam Schefter reported Tuesday, a deal that is set to bring the former No. 6 overall pick as a new weapon for Bo Nix.
Waddle, 27, has three 1,000-yard seasons to his name and is set to provide big-play ability for Sean Payton in Denver.
Here's everything to know about the trade sending Waddle to the Broncos.

Jaylen Waddle trade details
- Broncos receive: WR Jaylen Waddle, 2026 4th-round pick
- Dolphins receive: 2026 1st-round pick (30th overall), 2026 3rd-round pick, 2026 4th-round pick
According to Schefter, Waddle is heading to Denver alongside the Dolphins' fourth-round pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, with Miami receiving three 2026 selections in return: the Broncos' first-, third- and fourth-round picks.
After Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa's departure and a head coaching change, the Dolphins were known to be sellers this offseason as they enter a rebuilding stage, but it remained unclear whether they wanted to retain Waddle as a weapon for new quarterback Malik Willis. But in the end, the Broncos' draft capital proved to be tempting in parting ways with Waddle, who has been with the Dolphins since he was a 2021 first-round pick.
Miami is landing the No. 30 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, a chance to add a premier young player while also getting an extra third- and fourth-rounder. The Dolphins now have two first-round picks, No. 11 and No. 30.
As for the Broncos, they've had a fairly quiet offseason to this point, signing no external free agents, but this is now a big swing for one of the NFL's best receivers. Waddle joins Courtland Sutton as an elite 1-2 punch at wideout.
Per Schefter, Miami had considered trading Waddle at the 2025 trade deadline, including conversations with Denver and Buffalo. Instead, the Dolphins held onto him into the offseason, now getting a significant draft haul in return for their star receiver.
