Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels left Week 9 SNF with a gruesome arm injury.
It happened midway through the fourth quarter when Daniels scrambled for a touchdown. He was sacked and planted his non-throwing arm, which led to the dislocation of his shoulder.
Daniels will undoubtedly be placed on IR, which means he'll miss a minimum of four games. This makes him ineligible to play until Week 15, which is the fantasy playoffs for most leagues.
Depending on how poorly the Commanders are performing and considering all the injuries Daniels has sustained this season, the team might elect to keep their franchise quarterback out for the rest of the season.
Either way, fantasy football managers who had Daniels will need to pivot to another option.

1. J.J. McCarthy, Vikings (29% rostered in Yahoo Fantasy leagues)
McCarthy was able to return in Week 9 after missing five straight games due to a high ankle sprain. It was a tough matchup for his return, as the Vikings traveled to Detroit to take on the Lions.
Not only was McCarthy impressive in the Vikings' upset road win, but he had a decent fantasy outing as well. The second-year QB out of Michigan had three total touchdowns, one of which came on the ground.
McCarthy's strength of schedule the rest of the way is genuinely one of the easiest there is. The playoff schedule only gets too.
| Week | OPP | FPPG Allowed to POS |
| 15 | @DAL | 24.9 |
| 16 | @NYG | 21.2 |
| 17 | DET | 17.8 |
2. Joe Flacco, Bengals (52%)
The entire story around Flacco has been one of the more exciting things to follow this season. What is even more surprising is that Flacco is still available in nearly half of Yahoo Fantasy leagues.
Since Flacco joined the Bengals in Week 6, he is the overall QB2 in fantasy football.
The 40-year-old QB in his 18th season just passed for a career-high in yardage in Week 9. Now obviously, the game script in Week 9 against Chicago was insane. However, Flacco's lowest fantasy game since being moved to Cincinnati was his first game as a Bengal against the Packers.
Here is what his fantasy outputs have looked like since the trade.
| Week | OPP | FAN PTS |
| 6 | @GB | 18.8 |
| 7 | PIT | 26 |
| 8 | NYJ | 24.3 |
| 9 | CHI | 32.7 |
Flacco is a must-grab if he is still on your waiver wire, and dare I say he is a must-start if you lost Daniels.
3. Sam Darnold, Seahawks (50%)
Another QB that people, specifically fantasy managers, are overthinking is Sam Darnold.
On the season, Darnold is the QB13 overall. While he is undoubtedly not matchup-proof, there is no reason he can't be a QB you constantly plug into your lineup.
The eighth-year QB out of USC is coming off a 330-yard passing game with four passing touchdowns.
It certainly helps that he is linked with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but this is just even more of a reason to pick up Darnold in the absence of Daniels.
4. Michael Penix Jr., Falcons (19%)
It's been clear that the Falcons and their coaching staff believe in Michael Penix. While he is not an auto-start in fantasy by any means, he has shown signs of real ability.
It's been apparent that the offense runs much more smoothly under Penix than it ever did with Kirk Cousins.
The second-year QB out of Washington has finished as the QB12 or better 3 times this season. Penix can excel in the right matchup and deliver massive performances.
5. Justin Fields, Jets (45%)
The relationship between Justin Fields and fantasy football is highly toxic; however, I can't help but believe he is a great option.
The passing ability is clearly not there, as Woody Johnson can attest. However, the rushing ability is so dynamic that it still makes him feel undervalued in fantasy.
Despite the struggles this season, Fields has finished as the QB2, QB4, and QB7 throughout the year.
There are certainly some matchups coming up where Fields can pose a threat to have a big game. The upside is too high, especially if you have lost a player such as Daniels and have nothing to lose.
