The Dallas Mavericks have been undergoing a rough patch in their season following the firing of their former general manager Nico Harrison, who had been at the fans' mercy following the controversial trade of Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers for a package headlined by Anthony Davis.
According to Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd felt that the team absorbed an emotional toll during Harrison's last nine months as general manager, rooted in the fans' backlash against Doncic's trade.
"We only hope that we don't have to go through that again, because it was a little disrespectful," Kidd said before recalling the "Fire Nico" chants that reverberated during their home games in Dallas.•

Kidd added that he acknowledged the fans' healing process following the trade of Doncic, but rued that it affected how they supported the team in the past months.
"I understand the fans' healing process for the fans but these guys are playing hard. Ever since the trade, these guys have given everything. We were down to eight guys," he said.Davis, who was the biggest asset the Mavericks got in the Doncic trade, has only played five games this season due to a left calf strain.
The Mavericks have lost their last two games, falling to the 14th seed in the Western Conference standings with a 3-9 record.
Jason Kidd wants Dallas crowd to give them more credit after "disrespectful" past few months
Jason Kidd continued his rant by saying that the team has not been getting any credit for soldiering through injuries since the Doncic trade.
According to Kidd, it makes the home team more like a "visiting team" in their home floor due to fans' "disrespectful" chants.
"A lot of times we didn't get credit for playing hard and finding a way to get in the playing game," Kidd said. "So I would hope that we could get a little credit for that, because these guys, they can hear those things and they feel really disrespected and it's hard to keep guys here in this league when they start to think that the home team is not home and then becomes a visiting place."Since the final two months of last season, the Mavericks have had numerous injuries in their roster, including Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively III, Daniel Gafford, PJ Washington, Klay Thompson, and star guard Kyrie Irving, who is recovering from an ACL tear.
Now that the team is looking for a new general manager, the Mavericks are expected to build around rookie Cooper Flagg, whom the team picked as their first overall selection in the 2025 NBA draft.
