The Los Angeles Rams are currently in a heated race for the NFC West division crown, trailing one game behind the leading Arizona Cardinals. They went on a three game winning streak from Weeks 7-9, climbing back into the running after starting 1-4 on the season.
During that streak, their first round pick from this past year made himself known. Jared Verse has been a menace lately, emerging as the Rams' top edge rusher just 10 games into his career. Verse has 4.5 sacks (leads rookies), 14 quarterback hits, 38 tackles and 11 tackles for a loss. Verse has set himself up for a potential Defensive Rookie of the Year award at the end of the season and ESPN has taken notice.
Five analysts and reporters came together to rank the best NFL rookies in 2024 so far, with Verse coming in at No.3 behind Brock Bowers (2) and Jayden Daniels (1).
Verse leads all rookies in sacks and has created the eighth-most pressures in the league (28). He is at the forefront of the Rams' committee approach on the defensive line, filling the big shoes of Aaron Donald after the future Hall of Famer's retirement.
What's even better is that the Rams selected Braden Fiske, Verse's Florida State teammate, in the second round. Fiske was also mentioned in the list, landing in the 'just missed' category. He has three sacks of his own and is helping lead a new wave of the Rams' pass rush with Verse post-Donald. Verse's immediate impact is a sign for big things to come in the future.
