James Cook injury update - Bills' RB eases fears with 4 words

The Buffalo Bills will be feeling rather content with their work on Sunday as they took down the Kansas City Chiefs 28-21 at Highmark Stadium, but it wasn't without its scary moments.

Running back James Cook looked to have suffered an ankle injury and was seen on the sidelines getting it taped up, but he did return to rush for 114 yards on 27 carries, so we think that James' ankle is just fine.

And when asked about it post-game, James gave the best answer.

"See you next week," Cook said with a smile.

Yeah, we think he'll be just fine, and considering how important he is to Joe Brady's offense, I'd imagine that early this week, he might just be wrapped in cotton wool as a precaution.

Bills dealt brutal Michael Hoecht injury

While Cook was lucky to escape without an injury in the aftermath of the Chiefs' win, the same can't be said for defensive end Michael Hoecht.

Coming off in the second half, Hoecht wasn't seen on the field again, and head coach Sean McDermott revealed post-game that Hoecht suffered an Achilles injury that will now rule him out for the rest of the year.

Having his best game as a Bill as a menace along the defensive line, Hoecht's injury is a cruel blow to a defense that felt like it was just starting to get rolling, with Joey Bosa also playing perhaps his best game as a Bill.

But that is NFL football, and it will be next man up for Bobby Babich's unit as they look ahead to the Miami Dolphins in Week 10.

So, we will see Cook next week for the divisional showdown, but not Hoecht, who, after a six-game suspension, played two games, got two sacks, and is now out for the year.
