Jakobi Meyers trade rumors reveal Raiders' asking price, most likely destination

12 hours ago 3

The Las Vegas Raiders must trade wide receiver Jakobi Meyers at the trade deadline.

Keeping Meyers will do nothing to change what has been a dreadful season and the team desperately needs draft capital for a rebuild.

Meyers is a logical trade candidate for several reasons. He has publicly stated he still wants to be traded after his offseason request stemming from the lack of a contract extension, and he figures to leave in free agency in 2026.

"[The Raiders] know how I feel," Meyers said last week. "It's no reason for me to keep going back crying to them, 'Can you get me out of here?'

"If you move me, you move me. But in the meantime, I got some [teammates] that I care about next to me, so I'm trying to make sure I'm being my best self for them."

All indications are Meyers can be had for the right price, but what is that price exactly?

Raiders' Jakobi Meyers asking price

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, a swap of Day 3 picks won't be enough to land Meyers in a trade.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz adds that the Raiders are looking for "at least a Day 2 pick" for Meyers "to even consider" trading him.

"Multiple teams have shown interest in trading for WR Jakobi Meyers, who’s in the final year of his contract and has publicly said he still wants to be traded," Schultz reported. "However, teams have had a hard time getting a clear read on whether Las Vegas is truly willing to move him. The belief is it would take at least a Day 2 pick for the Raiders to even consider it."

That is a lofty asking price.

Maybe the Raiders can squeeze a third-round pick out of a team if there's enough competition for Meyers' services, but they will never get more than that thrown in, and a second-round pick is just out of the question entirely.

A fourth-round pick is probably the best the Raiders can hope for.

If the Raiders don't move off their stance, they're going to have a tough time dealing Meyers, and not moving him would be a colossal mistake.

Of course, it's very possible the Raiders are asking for the moon now and will move off that high asking price the closer we get to the deadline.

Hey, can't blame general manager John Spytek for trying, though.

Jakobi Meyers trade prediction

Fowler adds a prediction in his report and it picks the Pittsburgh Steelers as the most likely destination for Meyers.

"Pittsburgh is keeping tabs on this one but is prepared to be patient, too. If I had to predict a destination right now, I'd say the Steelers," Fowler wrote.

The Steelers make total sense given their need for a No. 2 wideout.

Fowler mentions the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos as two other teams that could be in the market for a wide receiver ahead of the deadline, so we'll be keeping an eye on them, also.
