Ja Morant responds to people calling him a bad guy in his first-ever Blazers interview

Ja Morant is now a member of the Portland Trail Blazers. He seems genuinely happy to be part of a new team after a tumultuous ending to his awesome tenure with the Memphis Grizzlies.

For a long time, people thought that Morant would be the reason behind the Grizzlies' most successful era. Unfortunately, that era burned out quickly, which has led to that group being scattered throughout the league. Apart from that, Morant has also dealt with plenty of issues on his own.

Ja Morant responds to people mischaracterizing him

During the tail end of Morant's stint with the Grizzlies, he kept dealing with all kinds of issues. Whether it's his questionable social media activity or his clash with Tuomas Iisalo in the 2025-26 season, he has become a notorious figure.

Unfortunately, that has been a big hit on his reputation. He has always been known to have a big personality because he loves to have fun, talk trash, and celebrate loudly with his teammates.

That reputation has followed him to Portland, but he is ready to shed all the problems he faced in Memphis. He addressed this in his first-ever interview with the Trail Blazers' media coverage.

"I’ve done what I’ve done in the past, but it’s been addressed and handled already. I don’t see why, years later, that’s still the topic when nothing’s happened since," Morant said as he took accountability for the issues he had in the past.

Morant has made a point that he is much more mature now, and that is clear in how he has spoken about his past. This is a good sign for the Trail Blazers because he has the right attitude ahead of the 2026-27 season under head coach Micah Nori.
