J.J. McCarthy injury update is bad news for Vikings at end of 1st half

1 hour ago 2

For the second time this season, Vikings undrafted rookie quarterback Max Brosmer entered the game to take a knee at the end of the first half.

This time, it was due to injury for J.J. McCarthy.

McCarthy left the field early to head to the locker room.

"Looked like trainers were looking at J.J. McCarthy's right hand, and he cringed. Then they went into locker room," wrote The Athletic's Alec Lewis on X.

Brosmer is the backup.

He made one start earlier this season, at Seattle, and was miserable.

This season can't go anywhere for the Vikings at this point, so they'd probably just like to get their young QBs to the offseason healthy.

McCarthy had a rushing touchdown before he left the game. He also threw a first-half interception.

He had gotten Justin Jefferson more involved than usual, with four catches for 57 yards in the first half.

The Vikings will wait and see whether McCarthy can come back for the third quarter.
