Former India captain Rohit Sharma made a fantastic return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The veteran batter was part of Mumbai's playing XI in their opening encounter of the 2025-26 edition against Sikkim at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Wednesday, December 24.
Mumbai were chasing a 237-run target in the 50-over fixture. Opening the batting, Rohit dazzled the viewers with his stunning strokeplay. The 38-year-old notched up his fastest List A century, crossing the 100-run mark in just 62 balls.
Rohit struck nine sixes and 18 fours, ultimately finishing with 155 runs off 94 deliveries at a fantastic strike rate of 164.89. The ace batter earned massive praise on social media for his sensational performance.

After electing to bat first, Sikkim registered 237/7 in 50 overs. Ashish Thapa was the top performer with the bat for the side, scoring 79 runs off 87 balls. Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur claimed two wickets, while Tushar Deshpande, Tanush Kotian, Shams Mulani, and Musheer Khan bagged one scalp each.
Mumbai chased the target in just 30.3 overs to claim a clinical eight-wicket win. Rohit Sharma stole the show with his batting exploits. The side will now take on Uttarakhand on Friday, December 26.
It is worth mentioning that this was Rohit's first appearance in the white-ball domestic tournament in seven years. His brilliant form is a great sign for India ahead of their upcoming three-match home ODI series against New Zealand.
The opening contest of the series is scheduled to take place at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara, on January 11. The second and third ODIs will be played at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot (January 14), and the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore (January 18), respectively.
