The Miz attacked his former tag team partner on WWE SmackDown. Following this, he sent him a clear message.

The Miz tried to form a tag team with Carmelo Hayes for a few weeks and mentor him despite the latter not being interested. Together, they formed quite a successful team, but Hayes was more interested in pursuing a singles career. On the 3rd October episode of SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes answered Sami Zayn's US Open challenge, only to be hit with the Skull Crushing Finale during his entrance. Hayes retaliated on the 17th October episode of the blue brand when he attacked the A-Lister during the latter's entrance. Last week, the former NXT Champion made it clear that they were even.

Tonight on WWE SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes went one-on-one with Kit Wilson. During the match, Miz came out of nowhere and sent Hayes into the ring post. However, this wasn't enough for Hayes to lose the match as he was able to pick up the win. Following the match, Miz hit Hayes with the Skull Crushing Finale from behind. He then told Hayes:

"It's not over until I say it's over"

Vince Russo criticized The Miz's current storyline

The Miz's storyline with Carmelo Hayes hasn't received a warm reception from the fans. Despite their success as a team, the fans didn't care too much about their tag team and hence, didn't care when they broke up either.

Speaking on an episode of Writing with Russo, Vince Russo also noted that nobody in the arena cared when The Miz turned on Carmelo Hayes. Yet, WWE will renew his contract just like they did with Xavier Woods.

"On SmackDown, I know you don't watch SmackDown. They had Miz turn on Carmelo Hayes. Bro, you could've heard a pin drop in the arena. Nobody cared. And you know what? When Miz's contract is up, they're gonna offer him a new contract just like they did with Woods. They're their own freaking worst enemies. Even the marks that watch the show, they know when a wrestler has run their course. And you don't think Xavier Woods has run his course? Like you said, Xavier Woods is gonna put b*tt in seats? He's gonna make somebody buy an ESPN pay-per-view?"

It will be interesting to see where this storyline between The A-Lister and Carmelo Hayes will lead.
