Reigning and undisputed ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion ‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty of the United Kingdom has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in his ONE Championship stint so far.
He’s gone from two-sport flyweight king to two-sport bantamweight king, and to someone with no belts at all. The 28-year-old understands that losing is part of the game. But he believes his setbacks have made him an even better fighter.
Speaking to veteran MMA reporter Nick Atkin in a recent interview, Haggerty shared his thoughts on his loss to Superlek and how it’s transformed his career.
“Yeah, it stings. It does sting obviously, but obviously I've overcome that, you know. It's made me a better fighter, a better person. I've learned from the mistakes, and it's just up to me now to get in there and put things right again and get the belt back, which I'm excited to do. It's been a while since I've had the belt, so I'm excited to reclaim it.”Get the latest updates on One Championship Rankings at Sportskeeda and more

Needless to say, the bantamweight kickboxing king is fully committed to wielding the Muay Thai gold again, and that’s what he’s working toward in 2026.
Jonathan Haggerty has a new challenger on the horizon in Yuki Yoza
Before ‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty can once again shift his focus to Muay Thai gold, he may have to deal with a new challenger for his ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title.
Enter Japanese star Yuki Yoza, who has run roughshod on the competition in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Yoza says he’s going to take the gold from Haggerty in spectacular fashion. He stated on his official YouTube channel:
“I still haven't shown it. In these last three fights, both of them are Thai and are kickers, while Osmanov kept his distance and kicked, so we've only seen fights that mainly focused on kicks. I really want to show off my punches. In fact, I'm better at punches. I'd like to fight European fighters too, so I'm looking forward to it. I'll be able to show my style to my opponents from now on, and I'll fight in a completely different way against Haggerty. I'm looking forward to it. I want to keep showing a new side of myself.”Stay tuned to Sportskeeda MMA for all the latest news and updates surrounding the Jonathan Haggerty vs. Yuki Yoza fight as it develops.
