Isiah Pacheco injury news: Chiefs get positive update

17 hours ago 2

The Kansas City Chiefs curb-stomped the Washington Commanders 28-7 behind a brutal second-half showing, but there was one sour note for Andy Reid's team - Isiah Pacheco's injury.

With the running back producing his best return for the year (58 rushing yards), Isiah came off the field in the second half with a knee injury. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Pacheco suffered an MCL sprain, and he was seen happy on the sidelines after the trainers checked him.

But Pacheco wasn't seen practicing on Wednesday as the Chiefs build up for their clash with the Buffalo Bills, and when asked whether Isiah's injury would be a long-term one, Reid's answer will prompt a collective sigh of relief across Chiefs Kingdom.

"I don't think so," Reid said. "So, we'll just see how he's moving around, but he tough kid. There was a point there where he wanted to go back in, and I wouldn't let him. But that's how he's wired, right? Have to cut his leg off to stop him."

Pacheco injury good news for Chiefs

With the Chiefs' run game just starting to pick up steam over the past couple of weeks with Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, and Brashard Smith, Reid's comments are good news that Pacheco might only miss a small amount of time, if any.

Granted, not practicing on Wednesday doesn't put his chances of playing on Sunday in a good area, but all eyes will be on later in the week to see if Isiah tries to give it a go.

The fact that he wanted to go back out on the field shows that the injury might not be as bad as initially thought, but given it is only Week 9, Kansas City will be cautious and in Hunt and Smith, Reid has a duo he's confident in.

The Chiefs might have gotten lucky here, and at 5-3 with the Bills up next, everything appears to be coming up Chiefs.
