"Is this Concord 2?" Fans are disappointed after watching Highguard trailer

The Highguard trailer was revealed at The Game Awards 2025, and it was not received well by the community. In 24 hours, the game's trailer amassed over 8,000 dislikes on YouTube, indicating a negative trend considering the low number of likes. Highguard comes from developers who previously worked on games such as Apex Legends and Titanfall. The official trailer on X got the attention of the content creator @Asmongold, who compared it to yet another unpopular release, saying:

"Is this Concord 2?"

For those not in the know, Highguard is an upcoming PvP raid shooter with very evident Hero Shooter elements, where characters have abilities that you can use during combat. A similar formula can be seen in tactical shooters such as Valorant or other popular games such as Overwatch 2.

However, the Hero Shooter genre is somewhat oversaturated. Sony's Concord, released in 2024, shut down in just about two weeks after release due to the negative reception by the community. Highguard's early impressions are now showing similar reactions as of December 14, 2025.

The Concord comparisons were many in the comment section. One spectator, @DesecratedNep69, initially believed that the remarks were exaggerated; however, they soon came to a change of mind:

"I thought that the Concord comparisons were exaggerated, but...Yeah, I understand why the comparisons exist. This reeks of Concord vibes."

Meanwhile, @CODTrashCan drew attention to the fact that the current FPS-gaming market is very competitive. This makes it even more difficult for new titles to find their place:

"Game will be dead in less than 6 months. Ya'll really thought this could compete in today's FPS market?"

On the other hand, some fans were genuinely excited about the game's future. X user @uhhdub even believed that the game may actually be one of the best projects to come out in 2026:

"This is going to be best game of 2026"

Finally, @Phyerx felt that Highguard's elements were certainly enjoyable. The game allows players to ride horses into battle and use them as an effective mobilisation tool, which may intrigue some players.

Highguard is an arena shooter that was the last to be revealed at The Game Awards 2025. The trailer went viral across various social media platforms, especially for receiving more dislikes than likes. However, the game does not even have a release date yet.

The game takes players into the world of a mythical continent, where players must acquire the Shieldbreaker to destroy enemy bases.
