The New York Knicks will return to work on Sunday evening when they face the Miami Heat with a chance to start the season with a 3-0 record.
While some may argue that the Knicks have yet to put together a complete game under Mike Brown, there’s no question the franchise has played well enough to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.
Karl-Anthony Towns played an integral role in the Knicks’ two home victories, as the 7-foot star center followed up his 19-point and 11-rebound outing against the Cavaliers with a 26-point and 13-rebound performance against the Celtics.
That said, Towns’ health has been concerning during the early portion of the year, as the Kentucky product has appeared on the Knicks’ injury report for three consecutive games.
Is Karl-Anthony Towns playing today vs. the Heat?
With Towns being questionable with a right quad strain for the Knicks’ third regular-season game, it’s unclear if he’ll take the floor on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
The 29-year-old has shown he can push through his lower-body injury and be an impactful performer in Brown’s offensive scheme.
However, with the 82-game 2025-26 season just beginning, the Knicks may consider resting Towns to ensure he isn’t in jeopardy of missing significant time down the line.
It’s highly unlikely, though, considering that Towns is the type of player who’ll attempt to participate in the action unless the pain he's enduring is unbearable.
