We have a mystery brewing with Ashton Jeanty during the Week 8 game between the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders have seen the field for two drives over the first quarter-plus as of this writing, yet Jeanty has not seen a touch in that span.

Instead, it has been all backup Mike Washington, who has six carries to Jeanty's zero.

Is Ashton Jeanty benched?

Jeanty has been on the field in this game, but only for third downs, so he isn't technically benched otherwise he wouldn't have seen a snap yet.

"Ashton Jeanty still does not have a touch as the #Raiders begin their second offensive series. He's been checking on third downs," SNY's Connor Hughes explained.

One has to wonder if his lack of touches and only seeing work on third downs is a punishment for a player who has dominated work this season.

Jeanty has struggled this season, so that could be why, although his struggles are not all his fault, as the Raiders' offensive line hasn't been great, either.

Jeanty did make disparaging comments about the Jets defense during the week, so maybe head coach Klint Kubiak is punishing him for that, but we can't say for sure.

“Couple of guys out there that don’t really want to tackle, but I’m not going to say names,” Jeanty said last Wednesday. “I think we can definitely get the run game going. Get back on track and just really get after these guys.”
