The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa on Sunday, November 22. The 15-man squad misses some important names due to workload management and injury, as KL Rahul has been assigned to lead the side. The series is set to kick-start from November 30 onwards, after the conclusion of the second Test in Guwahati.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has proven to be a massive selection pool for the selectors to choose from. With a blend of emerging players and regulars, who all play the IPL consistently, it is no surprise that there is atleast one player from each of the ten IPL franchises in the recently announced ODI squad.

Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul (C) (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Dhruv Jurel

On that note, let us take a look at the IPL team-wise list of players named in India's squad for IND vs SA 2025 ODIs.

#1 Chennai Super Kings - 1 Player

Just the solitary name has been named from the five-time champions, and it is none other than their skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad. The ace batter returns to the national setup after a frustrating wait as India seeks reinforcements for their top order after Shubman Gill's unfortunate neck injury.

The right-handed batter has displayed some sublime form of late, and was named player of the series in the recent unofficial ODI series against South Africa 'A'. His last ODI appearance had also come against South Africa during the 2023 tour.

#2 Mumbai Indians - 2 Players

The IPL heavyweights have two players from their squad to make it into the Team India setup for the ODIs against South Africa. Batters Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma are both part of the squad, and are expected to play vital roles.

Rohit Sharma made a massive statement with his performances in Australia upon his return, and it is no surprise that he retained his place. Varma, on the other hand, gets recalled back into the ODI setup as India needed replacements for the injured Shreyas Iyer. The last of Varma's four ODI appearances also came against South Africa during the 2023 tour.

#3 Royal Challengers Bengaluru - 1 Player

The defending IPL champions have one player from their squad named by the Indian selectors in the form of Virat Kohli. The veteran batter had a shaky start upon his return to competitive cricket during the Australian tour, but turned things around with a match-winning fifty in the third ODI.

The upcoming series will mark Virat Kohli's first appearance on home soil since the ODI series against England in February 2025.

#4 Kolkata Knight Riders - 1 Player

Harshit Rana is the sole player from KKR to be called up to the ODI squad. The right-arm pacer recently featured in all three ODIs against Australia, and had a prolific set of outings in the series against South Africa 'A'.

With the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj not in the squad, there is a lot of responsibility on Harshit Rana to complete the pace bowling attack.

#5 Sunrisers Hyderabad - 1 Player

Nitish Kumar Reddy is the only player from the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian ODI squad for the South Africa series. The all-rounder continues to be a part of the ODI setup amid Hardik Pandya's injury.

He recently featured in the Australia tour, before sustaining an injury and making a quick recovery. After being released from the Test squad to feature for India 'A', he was recalled into the setup for the ongoing second Test in Guwahati.

#6 Rajasthan Royals - 3 Players

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have the most players included in the India ODI squad, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja, all named by the selectors.

The explosive opening batter has a massive opportunity at the top of the order in Shubman Gill's absence, while Jurel continues to be among the back-up wicket-keepers in the side, just like the Australia tour. Meanwhile, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also makes a return to the 50-over setup after missing out on the Australia tour recently.

#7 Lucknow Super Giants - 1 Player

The franchise skipper, Rishabh Pant, is the only player to be included in the ODI squad. While the wicket-keeper has not played an ODI since August 2024, he has an excellent opportunity to feature in the middle-order in Shreyas Iyer's absence as an experienced left-handed batter.

#8 Delhi Capitals - 2 Players

Multiple players from the Delhi Capitals (DC), in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and KL Rahul are part of the ODI team set to take on South Africa. Core part of the ODI team now, the pair have a massive role to play in the home series.

KL Rahul has been named as the captain of the side in Shubman Gill's absence. Six of the 12 matches he has led in the format have come against South Africa, with the last instance being the 2023 tour.

#9 Gujarat Titans - 2 Players

Despite Shubman Gill missing out, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have multiple players in the Indian ODI squad, largely in the bowling unit. Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar feature in the team as vital members, given that some major names in the bowling department like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Axar Patel are missing.

#10 Punjab Kings - 1 Player

Arshdeep Singh is the only player from the Punjab Kings (PBKS) to be named in the Indian ODI squad. The left-arm pacer, who struggled for consistent game time in Australia, now has the task of spearheading the pace bowling unit with senior members missing out.

His best figures have come against South Africa, when he bagged a five-wicket haul in India's dominant win at the Wanderers during the 2023 tour.
