Internet catches NBA insider Shams Charania checking phone during All-Star Celebrity Game

Being an NBA insider isn't easy.

Many NBA fans know Shams Charania as the sport's premier intel reporter, but Shams decided to take a break from the grind to play in the 2026 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on Friday.

We thought we would just see his basketball skills on the court, but Shams got caught on his phone when he was on the bench during the game.

Charania was playing for Team Giannis, ironically, during the game, but got caught in a viral moment when he was out of the game.

The ESPN broadcast caught Shams checking his phone, which we'd assume is him making sure he hasn't missed out on anything important taking place around the league.

He already has a busy day this afternoon, reporting on a few key things happening in the league, including Chris Paul's announcement of his retirement from the NBA.

Seeing a live camera of Shams during the game just makes us appreciate even more what he does for fans.
