Private is how Jessica and Cash have kept details of their divorce since filing in February, citing "irreconcilable differences." However, The Honest Company founder—who stepped down from her role as Chief Creative Officer last year—has offered a few glimpses into the last few months.

These have included glamorous moments—including vacations with her kids and friends, Paris Fashion Week shows and red carpet appearances—and healing ones, too (with her noting April 15 she was recovering from an injury and wanting desperately to "get me off these dang crutches!"). Jessica has also been focusing on her health, posting about her "mindful moments" and workouts. And she's embracing change—as shown through her new tattoo featuring the words, "Life is transformation, transformation is life."

However, this chapter of change doesn't include Alex Edelman. Because even though the comedian was spotted wrapping his jacket around the Trigger Warning star in March, a source with knowledge of the situation made it clear, "They are not dating."

"They met walking to their cars at the end of the night," the source clarified, "and he offered her his jacket because she was freezing before they went their separate ways."

While Jessica and Cash filed for divorce in early February, court documents obtained by E! News listed their official date of separation as two days after Christmas. Which is around when fans were wondering if the Sin City alum and the Pair of Thieves founder were heading for a breakup after she was spotted without her wedding ring and shared some intriguing Instagram posts.

It wasn't the first time fans had questioned the state of their union. While giving followers peeks at their red carpet date nights, sweet anniversary tributes, relatable parenting moments and epic parties, Jessica and Cash had also been candid about their relationship ups and downs—including their past split due to the jealousy he experienced when she received attention from other men.

"Four years into our relationship, we broke up," the 46-year-old—who met Jessica while working as a director’s assistant on the 2005 film Fantastic Four—said on a 2023 episode of Whine Down With Jana Kramer. "It was just the jealousy. I was turning into an a--hole….During that time apart, I was just like, if we ever got back together, I made a promise to myself to channel that in a different way into a more productive way."

They did get back together—with Cash adding he was Jessica's "biggest cheerleader" and "never felt jealous" of her career—and wed in May 2008. But like many couples, they continued to experience highs and lows.

"It’s all rosy for two and a half years, but then after that, you become roommates," Jessica explained on an April 2024 episode of Katherine Schwarzenegger’s BDA Baby series. "It’s just like you’re roommates, you’re just going through the motions, you have the responsibilities. It’s a lot of checking the boxes."

And while the L.A.’s Finest actress said she and Cash used to do weekly date nights, she noted those eventually stopped too.

"We’re just not consistent," she admitted. "But I would say that being able to communicate when you’re unhappy and nipping it right away instead of letting it fester and then you have animosity and it explodes, which we’ve definitely gone through that one too."

Ultimately, their connection changed.

"We have obviously the friendship, the comfort of you’re not going anywhere, and so sometimes you don’t treat those people the best," Jessica added. "You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings. So that is something that I think is a constant one to work on. Because you’re at different places, right? One night a week date night might be enough at some point in your life, but it may not be enough in a month. You might need something else."

Now, they're needing to explore their own journeys. And as Jessica celebrates her 44th birthday April 28, she’s excited to see what’s next.

"Kicking off #Taurus season with all the things—good friends, deep healing, fun celebrations, slow mornings, girls nights, belly laughs,” she wrote in part of an April 24 Instagram post, "what more could a girl ask for.”
