Injury-prone star tipped as Ruben Amorim's first Man United sale in January

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly looking to offload a host of struggling stars in the second half of the January transfer window.

The Red Devils have been quiet on the transfer front so far in the mid-season market as Amorim assesses his options for the remainder of the campaign.

The former Sporting CP boss will be given a budget to work with, despite the club hierarchy looking to remain within Premier League rules on Profit & Sustainability (PSR), but he is not expected to make major signings.

The focus will be on deciding who has a place in his future plans and which stars will be moved on as part of a squad refresh.

As per reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Dutch international Tyrell Malacia could be the first name heading for the Old Trafford exit door, after an injury ravaged stint in Manchester.

Tyrell Malacia Man United, contract, transfer value, injury record

Malacia made 22 Premier League appearances in his debut 2022/23 campaign under Erik ten Hag, but knee surgery in the summer of 2023 has derailed his career, with 16 months out of action.

The 25-year-old has made just two EPL starts since Amorim's arrival in November and his future looks uncertain. United retain an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months - beyond its expiry in 2026 - but that does not look to be in Amorim's plans.

United will be aiming to secure a similar fee to the £13m ($15m) they paid to sign him back in 2022 but that price could be reduced if a bid comes in this month.

Despite Romano's claim over United's willingness to sell the former Feyenoord defender, there have been no firm bids at this stage, despite rumoured interest from Cesc Fabregas' Como.
