At AAA's Guerra de Titanes, an injured WWE star returned to help Rey Mysterio pin Dominik Mysterio in the main event. Mysterio teamed up with Rey Fenix and went up against "Dirty" Dominik and El Grande Americano.
The original main event was supposed to feature the reunion of the Lucha Bros, but Penta wasn't cleared to return. Cero Miedo is currently recovering from a shoulder injury suffered during a match against Solo Sikoa in the quarterfinals of The Last Time Is Now Tournament last month.
Rey was named as his replacement, which was well-received by fans in attendance at Arena Guadalajara. Toward the end of the match, El Grande was going to use his patented metal plate to help their team win.
However, Penta made the save and knocked down his fellow masked luchador. He went on to put the metal plate inside his mask and headbutted Dominik Mysterio.
Shocking title change taped for last SmackDown - Watch Now!
It allowed Rey Mysterio to hit the 619 and the diving splash for the win. The trio celebrated the victory, with Dominik shoving El Grande Americano after he tried consoling him. To the surprise of many, El Grande shook Rey's hands as the crowd cheered in what appeared to be a babyface turn.
You can watch the sequence at the 3:38 mark of the video below.
At 51 years old, The Master of the 619 remains so good inside the ring. His longevity is an amazing feat, considering his career started before John Cena began his, and he's still wrestling even after Cena retired.
Rey Mysterio's impressive record against Dominik Mysterio
Since Dominik Mysterio turned heel and joined the Judgment Day, he has made his father's life a living hell. But regardless of what "Dirty" Dom has done, Rey Mysterio continues to have his son's number inside the ring.
According to Cagematch, the father and son have been involved in 11 televised matches, from singles to tag team, since WrestleMania 39. Rey Mysterio has an impressive record of 7-4 against Dominik. And in one-on-one matches, Rey is up 2-0 versus his son.
It will be interesting to see if WWE will revisit another feud between Rey and Dominik, especially in AAA. Both of them are popular figures in Mexico, plus the involvement of El Grande Americano makes it even more intriguing.
