An injured WWE star could return as soon as next week on RAW. The promotion has seen a handful of its top names sidelined due to injuries in the recent months. However, one name could be set for a comeback after a lengthy layoff.
Chad Gable has not been in action since June this year. He was written off TV following an arm-breaker spot with Penta on RAW. In reality, he needed time off to heal from his rotator cuff injury.
He underwent shoulder surgery and has been recovering since then. There have been reports of Gable training at the Performance Center for his return, which was expected to be soon.
Now, according to PWInsider Elite, the former tag team champion is expected to return “fairly soon.” In fact, the report adds that Gable could be back as soon as next week’s RAW in Brooklyn, New York. The episode will mark RAW's one-year anniversary on Netflix and has a blockbuster card.
Gable had become an integral part of Monday Nights with his El Grande Americano gimmick. His last match as El Grande Americano was a WWE Speed Title defense against Berto on June 17. His last match as Chad Gable saw him lose to AJ Styles on the June 9 episode of RAW.
WWE has big plans for Chad Gable on his return
Before his injury, Chad Gable was slated for a big SummerSlam match against Penta. The contest would have seen Gable compete as El Grande Americano in a Mask vs. Mask match.
While this bout had to be shelved due to his injury, the sports entertainment giant still has major plans for Gable on his imminent return.
According to Ibou of Self Made Pro, with Ludwig Kaiser's version of El Grande Americano seemingly turning babyface at the recent AAA event, WWE plans to position Gable as the top heel in the Lucha Libre promotion.
