Lane Kiffin gets paid for Ole Miss' first-round Playoff win
Lane Kiffin might have left Ole Miss, but he's still making major bank from his exploits with the program. According to ESPN, there's a clause in Kiffin's contract with LSU that includes a clause that states he will receive a payment equal to the amount he would have earned for coaching the Rebels in the ongoing College Football Playoff.
The report states that Kiffin will receive the same CFP bonus from LSU that he would have if he had remained with Ole Miss through the playoffs. The amount starts at $150,000 for participation in a first-round game, then goes up to $250,000 for participation in the quarterfinals, and tops out at $1 million if the Ole Miss Rebels win the national championship.
Kiffin will be owed the College Football Playoffs bonus payments from the LSU Tigers within 30 days after the Rebels' season ends. This clause sheds light on the rationale of Kiffin opting to take his talents to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The LSU Tigers will start the 2026 season with a matchup against the Clemson Tigers. One date to circle on a calendar is their game against the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, September 19, 2025.
