Caitlin Clark's celebrity status is especially notable when she attends basketball games, considering that is how she got so famous. That was proven once again on Thursday, when Clark attended the Illinois-Penn basketball game.

The Indiana Fever star attended the game in Champaign, Illinois, with her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, who is also the son of Penn head coach, Fran McCaffery. As this game took place not far from Indianapolis, Clark and McCaffery made the trip to support the Penn men's team.

Fox Sports showed the couple behind the Quakers' bench, as McCaffery was wearing a Penn sweatshirt.

While Penn players surely knew that Clark was at the game, Illinois fans weren't as up to date. In fact, a few Illini players found out that Clark was there after Illinois' 112-70 win over Penn, and they gave a great reaction upon the discovery.

Take a look at how two Illinois players reacted to Clark watching their game.

Illinois player reacts to Caitlin Clark's attendance

Illinois players Quentin Coleman and Zavier Zens had big games against Penn, which meant they were selected to speak with the media afterwards. While the two were asked about the game, one reporter wanted to know if Clark's attendance motivated them.

However, it became clear that they didn't know that Clark was watching the game, which allowed Coleman to give a priceless reaction.

"Wait, wait, Caitlin Clark was in the building? Wait, why was she here?" Coleman said. "Yo, I gotta tell my sister, bro."

Now that the WNBA is in the offseason, Clark has time on her hands to attend more games as a fan, potentially providing more reactions like this. As her celebrity status grows, though, Clark will elicit some more of these reactions.

Coleman, meanwhile, is a freshman guard who was playing in his first collegiate game against Penn, so he was definitely not used to celebrities coming to watch him play. That could change since Illinois is the No. 3-ranked team in the country entering the season.
