Some of the best draft-eligible hockey talent in the world will descend upon the "Lone Star State" for this year's IIHF U18 World Championships, beginning on Wednesday, April 23.

The 10-team field is split into two groups of five for the preliminary round, which will comprise the first week of action as teams fight to advance to the quarterfinals.

Group A includes Canada, Finland, Latvia, Norway and Slovakia. The Canadians roar into the tournament as the defending champions, having won the gold medal with a perfect record in the 2024 tournament.

Group B, meanwhile, consists of Czechia, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States. The Americans, last year's second-place finisher, previously won gold in 2023.
