Understanding farming in Icarus will help players grow their own food and herbs. It is a crucial in-game mechanic that enables explorers to survive as they traverse new areas and establish new outposts. Players must learn farming since this mechanic is tied to in-game tasks and achievements.

Here is a comprehensive guide on farming in Icarus.

Farming in Icarus explained

To start farming in Icarus, you can begin by unlocking and crafting a Wooden Shovel and a tier 1 Seed Extractor. Building these two items will cost 30 Wood, 35 Fiber, 10 Stick, 25 Stone, and 10 Charcoal.

This setup will work in comfortable temperature zones, such as Riverlands and the Conifer. Basic Crop Plots can be crafted once you reach level 10 or higher, which is suitable for slightly higher storms.

How to get Seeds in Icarus

You can gather seeds while farming in Icarus by crafting the tier 1 Seed Extractor. It transforms the plants that are placed in it into seeds. After reaching tier 2, the Progenitive Fertilizer can be used to collect seeds when harvesting Crop Plots or Dirt Mounds. However, as you progress and reach tier 3, you need to get a threshing attachment for sickles, which allows you to collect seeds as they were collected in the previous tiers.

The Orbit Workshop will grant you the Reaper sickle that works like the Threshing attachment while also providing bonuses for the produce. The Seed Master Talents increase the seed yield from the Reaper sickle and the sickle attachment, and the Prolific Crop will increase the seed amount from farmed crops.
