Though he fought with plenty of grit throughout the 15-minute war, the Team Vasileus man was largely outplayed by Superbon's technical masterclass. The 35-year-old Thai found a way to slam in his signature head kicks repeatedly, and followed up with knees whenever the two traded in proximity.
Despite being forced to absorb a painful defeat in the Japanese capital, Noiri showed respect for the man who emerged victorious in the main event last Sunday.
"Thank you, champion, for the fight. It was an honor to share the ring with such a great champion," he continued in his Instagram post.Masaaki Noiri's road back to title contention begins now
While Noiri's promise to build up another case at a world title opportunity shows admirable determination, the path to another title shot in ONE Championship's stacked featherweight kickboxing division won't be easy.
He'll definitely need to turn back the clock and rack up a couple of statement wins to earn a ticket at redemption.
Besides, with fighters like Marat Grigorian, who defeated promotional newcomer Rukiya Anpo on the same card, and other elite strikers waiting in the wings, Noiri faces a gauntlet of dangerous opponents on his redemption journey.
