The LSU Tigers parted ways with Brian Kelly after their loss to the Texas A&M Aggies. The Tigers have since appointed Frank Wilson to serve as the interim head coach.

Wilson addressed the press and caught some eyeballs with his bold speech. He said,

"I will do my very best & die trying to represent us as a university, as a state, as a community, to the best of my ability, with dignity, with honor, with pride."

This is Wilson's 10th season with the Tigers. He was part of the staff from 2010 to 2015 before taking over as head coach at UTSA. However, he returned to LSU in 2022 to join Brian Kelly's coaching team as an associate head coach.

Wilson has played a major role in building LSU's team, having been named college football's recruiter of the year twice. He'll now be tasked with steadying the ship in Louisiana as the team has lost three of their last four games.

LSU face a tricky schedule after Brian Kelly's firing

The schedule won't get easier for the Tigers as the season reaches its business end. The first game in the post-Brian Kelly era is a trip to Tuscaloosa to face off against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide are the No. 4-ranked team in the country and hasn't lost a game since their first fixture of the campaign. Frank Wilson will need to galvanize his troops for that match, as a loss would dent their bowl game hopes.

The remaining fixtures for the season are home games against the Arkansas Razorbacks and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, plus an away game against the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners are currently ranked No. 18 in the country and are firmly in the playoff picture.

Frank Wilson will look to guide the Tigers until the rest of the season. A playoff berth is likely out of the picture, and the best-case scenario might be a 9-3 or 8-4 record. The Tigers could then launch an extensive coaching staff at the end of the campaign.
