Charles Leclerc admitted he would be glad to leave the Ferrari SF25 behind at the end of the 2025 season. Speaking to the media, including Sportskeeda, in Las Vegas, the Monegasque made it clear that the current challenger is not a car he would miss.
Leclerc has scored five podiums but remains winless after 22 races this year. He has repeatedly highlighted the SF25’s limitations, particularly its lack of competitiveness in wet conditions.
Starting ninth in Las Vegas, Charles Leclerc could progress only to sixth, a result that further dampened Ferrari’s hopes of reclaiming second place in the constructors’ standings. Until Mexico, the team had held that position, locked in a tight battle with Mercedes and Red Bull.
Asked by Sportskeeda if the current Ferrari was one he wouldn’t want to put away, Charles Leclerc said:
“I mean, we're fighting for third or, yeah, maybe second, but honestly, second is going to be difficult for the constructors. What I want to do is to be fighting for wins. So, surely it's not a car we'll miss.”Charles Leclerc had mixed feelings about the Las Vegas GP
Charles Leclerc crossed the line in sixth at the Las Vegas GP after spending most of the race stuck behind Kimi Antonelli and Oscar Piastri in a long DRS train. The post-race disqualification of both McLaren drivers has since promoted him to fourth.
Speaking before the disqualifications, Leclerc said he had mixed feelings about his race, particularly regarding the car’s performance. Speaking in a team statement about his race in Las Vegas, Charles Leclerc said:
“Mixed feelings on my side. I am not satisfied finishing P6, but if I look back at my race, I didn’t leave anything on the table, I had some good battles and took the right risks, so on a personal note, I am satisfied with my performance today. The first stint was entertaining with good overtakes, working my way forward, but after our stop, it became more difficult. Our straight-line speed was not the strongest, so it was difficult to fight with our competitors. I made up for it a bit with how I was braking, but with Oscar (Piastri) in Kimi’s (Antonelli) DRS, it was difficult to catch them to try and gain more places. We have two more races to go and we want to close the season on a high, bringing home a win for everyone in our team. I will give it everything.”Charles Leclerc now sits on 226 points after being promoted to fourth following McLaren’s penalties, with teammate Lewis Hamilton moving up to eighth. Ferrari remains fourth in the constructors’ standings on 378 points, 13 behind Red Bull in third and 36 behind Mercedes in second.
