Team India all-rounder Shivam Dube hilariously asked Axar Patel to give him credit for Josh Inglis' dismissal in the side's fourth T20I of the ongoing five-match series against Australia. India secured a comprehensive 48-run victory at Carrara Oval, Queensland, taking a 2-1 lead in the rubber.
In the ninth over of Australia's chase, Inglis played a cover drive off Axar's bowling. Dube did a brilliant job of stopping the ball and denying the swashbuckling batter a single.
Inglis stepped out of his crease on the next ball, looking to play a big shot. However, he could not make any contact, and the ball ultimately hit the stumps.
During a post-match conversation, Dube cheekily told Axar that he deserved some credit for the breakthrough. He said:
"I think you should give the credit for the second wicket to someone else, who dived and stopped the ball in the covers to deny a single."Axar hilariously suggested that Dube had already taken the credit for the wicket right after the dismissal. The left-arm spinner replied:
"Yes, I already gave credit at that time. Actually, that person himself already took the credit for that."Axar did a commendable job with both bat and ball. He was named the Player of the Match for his crucial unbeaten 21-run knock off 11 balls and an impactful spell of 4-0-20-2.
"Is galti se aap thoda kam maroge" - Axar Patel's funny reaction to Shivam Dube's massive six in AUS vs IND 2025 4th T20I
Shivam Dube scored 22 runs from 18 deliveries after being promoted to No. 3. The southpaw hit a huge six against Adam Zampa in the 11th over, which led to a lost ball.
Axar Patel noted that an older ball was introduced in the ball change, causing some uneven bounce. He jokingly remarked that the hard-hitting batter should learn from his mistake and not hit such big sixes.
The 31-year-old said during the same conversation:
"Had you not lost the ball, you would have gotten to play more of that new ball. You had to deal with some uneven bounce because a slightly older ball was handed after that. Is galti se aap thoda kam maroge, bahar nahi maroge (After this mistake, you will not hit the ball out of the ground)."The action now moves to Brisbane, where India and Australia will compete in the fifth and final T20I of the series on Saturday, November 8.
