The moment arrived after two long years of uncertainty, and three-sport megastar Stamp Fairtex was simply grateful to be competing again.

The former ONE atomweight MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing world champion made her long-awaited return to action after more than 24 months on the sidelines.

She took on former K-1 champion Kana 'Krusher Queen' Morimoto in an atomweight kickboxing bout at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on Sunday, Nov. 16, inside Tokyo's Ariake Arena.

Though the Fairtex Training Center affiliate dropped a unanimous decision in her comeback fight – with Kana controlling the action through superior volume and relentless forward pressure across three rounds – the 28-year-old expressed relief and satisfaction about simply making it back to the global stage of ONE Championship.

"I felt excited and nervous as I said before. And, yeah, it's a comeback. The first fight in over two years. I'm tired, but today I think I did good. Yeah, I think I should do more cardio or work on some techniques. More of that," Stamp Fairtex told Nick Atkin in a post-fight interview inside the Japanese capital.

The comeback carried special significance beyond just competition. It took place on Stamp's birthday, fulfilling a longtime dream of fighting on that specific date.

What's next for Stamp Fairtex in ONE Championship

Despite being out of action for slightly over two years, Stamp Fairtex didn't look to show any signs of ring rust throughout her three-round tiff against Kana, who returned to the winner's column with a vintage display.

The Thai megastar held her own, taking the Japanese slugger's best shots while showing that she's not lost her penchant to chain combinations with her striking arsenal.

A Muay Thai battle would present the former three-sport ONE world champion to continue honing her stand-up tools in a fight, as she works on her grappling and other areas of MMA before a return to the all-encompassing discipline.

Be it MMA, kickboxing, or Muay Thai, the 28-year-old fighter will take things one step at a time to make another run at ONE Championship gold.

It'll be wise for her not to rush her return. As long as she gets more fights under her belt, world championship glory awaits the Thai fan favorite.
