Armenian kickboxing legend Marat Grigorian silenced the trash-talking Rukiya Anpo at ONE 173 with a violent display at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena last Nov. 16.
It was a vintage performance for the former ONE featherweight kickboxing world title challenger, who destroyed the Japanese star with his signature forward pressure and punches in bunches for a dominant unanimous decision win.
Apart from the heated confrontation these two had, more drama ensued before the fight when Anpo missed weight and hydration.
Grigorian still chose to proceed with the match and accepted a catchweight contest.

Addressing the media during the ONE 173 post-fight press conference, Grigorian acknowledged his shortcomings in the past, where he also failed to meet the demands of the scales.
"Like I said last time I was, it was my mistake. I was up heavier 300 grams, but I promised for my fans and all of the media that the next fight I would be on point, and that's what I did. The important thing is, I made the hydration test and my weight class.”The Hemmers Gym product then addressed Anpo’s weight debacle, especially after talking a big game:
“I was disappointed in Anpo because he's the first guy. He had so much big chance, and he's missing the weight. Three kilos overweight, three kilos is a lot in our division, you know? But it's nothing for me. I give him a chance. I'm a real fighter. I don't want to let my friends behind to not fight, but I don't care about the weight class, you know? I'm just here to show a real fight, and that's what I did."Rukiya Anpo addresses loss to Marat Grigorian
Rukiya Anpo's ONE Championship debut did not go to plan.
Still, the former K-1 champion is grateful to have shared the Circle with a legendary adversary like Marat Grigorian.
'Demolition Man' wrote on Instagram:
"Before you step in the ring, I need to work on my 'inside human being.' No real strength comes out on that stage. More than resentment. Accept your weakness, that I found a challenge to move on. I'm honestly happy right now. Here's to more growth. Still life ahead."Why did you not like this content?
