Conservative media personality Megyn Kelly slammed journalist Bari Weiss after the latter supported Ben Shapiro's tirade against Candace Owens at TPUSA's AmFest. Turning Point's annual AmericaFest conference kicked off on December 18. At the event, several conservative personalities delivered speeches, including Erika Kirk.
Ben Shapiro also took the stage and slammed Candace Owens for allegedly fueling conspiracy theories surrounding Charlie Kirk's murder. He criticized the former Daily Wire host for accusing TPUSA of a cover-up in Kirk's assassination. Shapiro called out the podcaster for not providing any concrete evidence supporting her claims.
"We also have a duty to provide you with evidence of the claims that we make. Emotive accusations, conspiracy theories, and just casting questions. That's lazy and stupid and misleading... So when Candace Owens says, 'I don't know, no, but I know,' that is retarded. And we are all more retarded for having heard it," Shapiro said.Bari Weiss reacted to Shapiro's speech in her X post. The CBS host posted an adaptation of Shapiro's AmFest speech published in The FreePress. While sharing it, Weiss wrote:
"Only Cowards Tolerate Conspiracy Theorists. @benshapiro delivered a barnburner tonight @TPUSA ."Only Cowards Tolerate Conspiracy Theorists. @benshapiro delivered a barnburner tonight @TPUSA. Read the whole thing in @TheFP:
In her X post, Megyn Kelly reacted and bashed Weiss and Ben Shapiro for aiming at Owens without knowing what had been going on out of public view.
"@benshapiro & @bariweiss in a joint attack on yours truly (their “friend”) tonight w/o a damn clue what has been going on behind the scenes for months. Prob should have checked w/ @TPUSA & @MrsErikaKirk first. I’m embarrassed for them," Kelly commented.Megyn Kelly, in her recent podcast episode, revealed that Erika Kirk had asked her to moderate her meeting with Candace Owens. She claimed that she had been working, behind the scenes, to mend ties between Owens and Charlie Kirk's wife.
What did Ben Shapiro say about Candace Owens in his AmFest speech?
While speaking at Turning Point's event, Ben Shapiro suggested that people must not doubt who killed Charlie Kirk. He criticized Candace Owens for "casting aspersions" at TPUSA since Charlie Kirk's death. He said, as a "moral obligation," people must call out her name loudly.
"If Candace Owens decides to spend every day since the murder of Charlie Kirk casting aspersions at TPUSA... at Mikey McCoy and Andrew Kolvet and Blake Neff and Tyler Bowyer and yes, at Erika Kirk... to spew absolutely baseless trash implicating everyone from French intelligence to Mossad to members of TPUSA in Charlie's murder or a cover up in that murder, then we as people with a microphone have a moral obligation to call that out by name," Ben Shapiro stated.Ben Shapiro remarked that Erika Kirk and Turning Point should never be put in a position where they have to defend themselves. He added that those who refuse to condemn Owens' alleged attacks are "guilty of cowardice."
"The fact that they have said nothing while Candace has been vomiting all sorts of hideous and conspiratorial nonsense into the public square for years is just as cowardly," Shapiro stated.Candace Owens also hit back at Shapiro following his speech. In one of her X posts, she wrote that it was "beyond obvious" that Shapiro was "fearful" about something associated with Charlie Kirk's murder.
