Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has been branching out to other ventures outside basketball this offseason, appearing at the NASCAR Cup Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway. Cunningham reflected on her NASCAR event, including her linkup with Hollywood Sydney Sweeney.

Cunningham raved about her weekend escapade in the NASCAR tracks, where she tried hopping on a sports car and meeting some celebrities who were also there to enjoy the festivities.

"I had the better weekends that I've had in a long time," Cunningham said. "I had a f**king blast at NASCAR. I think those are my people. That’s where I belong."

Cunningham then recalled how she met Cunningham at the event, saying that it was just a quick interaction between them.

"How I met Sydney, she's actually so nice. I think she's a very nice girl. We just talked for like... I'd say a minute, two minutes," the Fever guard said. "Like, it was really quick because everyone, like, there was celebrities and VIPs, and so we were all kind of doing our own thing. So it was a very quick, like, hey, how are you? So nice to meet you." "F**king awesome. I don't even know how to explain it. Like, the whole time I was just happy."

It was somewhat of a homecoming for Cunningham as Phoenix had been her home in the WNBA for six years before moving to Indiana last season.

With the Fever, Cunningham saw a massive uptick in her popularity, earning partnerships with different brands, including one with fast-food chain Arby's and the shoe brand Adidas, among others.

Cunningham's season was cut short due to a torn right MCL, adding to the Fever's injury woes last season. They eventually reached the semifinals but lost to the eventual WNBA champions Las Vegas Aces, in five games.

Sophie Cunningham hints at possible Indiana Fever exit during free agency

Despite reaching new career heights with the Fever, Sophie Cunningham could be thinking of finding a new team this offseason.

In her "Show Me Something" podcast, Cunningham said that she is looking for a bigger contract this year.

"The next team I play for, I want a bigger contract, so then I can buy a house and be homey and cozy," she said. “It could be anywhere."

Cunningham is one of the biggest free agents in the offseason as the league and its players negotiate a collective bargaining agreement.

Cunningham had a one-year, $100,000 contract with the Fever last season, where she put up 8.6 points, and 3.5 rebounds per game.
