The last time Travis Kelce crossed 1,000-plus receiving yards was during the 2022 season. Last season, despite the Chiefs competing in Super Bowl LIX, his production was underwhelming, recording just 823 yards and three TDs receiving in the regular season.

This year, things have not improved for the three-time Super Bowl champion. So far in 15 games, Travis Kelce has tallied just 803 yards and five touchdowns receiving. However, the Chiefs won't be making any Super Bowl preparations this year, as they were eliminated from playoff contention after losing to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.

During Wednesday's interview with ex-Chiefs star Tony Gonzalez, Travis Kelce got candid about the team's on-field problems this season. He also took responsibility for their failure to make the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era.

"You know, we've got unbelievable people and people with great intergrity in the building," Kelce said (Timestamp-0:31). "So you know, it makes it a little bit easier to finish out this year knowing that people the people that we do have in the building, but it's frustrating, man, it's frustrating. I feel like I can't even look my guy, Coach Andy Reid, in his eyes right now, just because I feel like I disappointed or I just let him down in some way, throughout the year."

"I just feel like, you know, it's my job to go out there and make it happen. And that's kind of the pride I've always played with, especially playing for him, knowing how hard he works and how prepared he always it."

The Chiefs are currently in third place in the AFC West behind the Chargers and the Broncos. They have put up a 6-9 record with a four-game losing skid.

Travis Kelce gets real about parting ways with Patrick Mahomes

During the interview, Tony Gonzalez asked Travis Kelce about his bond with Patrick Mahomes. Both of them have been playing together since the quarterback joined the team in 2017.

When asked about the possibility of this being the final year with Mahomes on the field, Kelce highlighted the strong friendship between them.

"He's family now. I think through all the hard work and all the family time that we've had outside the facility and outside the building, there'll definitely never be a goodbye to him. It'll just be like another day in the life with Paty Mahomes."

The quarterback's season came to an abrupt end after he suffered a torn ACL injury in Week 15 against the Chargers. In his ninth year with the team, Mahomes tallied 3,587 yards and 22 TDs passing with 11 interceptions to his name.
