Motivational speaker and psychologist Dr. Umar Johnson recently shared his thoughts about Nicki Minaj's vocal support for President Donald Trump and his administration. For those uninformed, Minaj has shown increasing support for Trump, JD Vance, and other right-wing figures in recent times, including making an appearance at Turning Point USA's America Fest 2025 on December 21, 2025.
This showed a stark shift in Minaj's political affiliations as she had been critical of Trump during his first presidential term. Dr. Umar addressed Minaj's sudden loyalty towards Trump when he appeared for an interview on The Art of Dialogue, which aired on December 25, 2025.
The psychologist admitted that he was disappointed in Nicki Minaj, suggesting that the rapper used her hip-hop success to further Trump's "military agenda." Despite his criticism of Minaj, Johnson praised the rapper's skills, calling her talented, articulate, intelligent, and a "tremendous lyricist."
"I'm disappointed in my sister Nicki. You have no business using hip-hop music to build yourself in Black culture. Very talented sister, very articulate sister, very intelligent sister, tremendous lyricist. Few sisters I could put in front of her in terms of lyrical talent," Johnson said.He continued:
"But how dare you build a comfortable life for you and your beautiful family on Black culture, then turn around and use that success to help Donald Trump leverage his military agenda against Black Africa, the Black Caribbean, and Black America."Dr. Umar also warned Nicki Minaj that she was being used against the Black community in the Caribbean, Africa, and America, questioning her whether whatever Trump was offering her was worth "turning back the clock of African people in three separate regions."
"Sister Nicki, you are being used against the Black Caribbean, you are being used against the Black Africa, and you are being used against the Black America. Is what Donald Trump is offering you, is it worth that? Is it worth the turning back the clock of African people in three separate regions?"He also hoped that Nicki Minaj "rethinks what she's doing," adding that he had "nothing but love for her and her family." He also urged her to change her mind, cautioning her to "not go down in history as one of the greatest c*ons who ever lived in the 21st century."
Nicki Minaj called Donald Trump a "handsome, dashing president" during her AmFest 2025 panel
Nicki Minaj's vocal support for the Trump administration came after she backed the president as he criticized the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria. Her posts about the plight of Christians living in Nigeria earned her an invitation to speak about the issue at the United Nations headquarters in New York last month. In her speech, she thanked Trump for "prioritizing this issue," saying:
“I would like to thank President Trump for prioritizing this issue and his leadership on the global stage in calling for urgent action to defend Christians in Nigeria and to combat extremism and to bring a stop to violence against those who simply want to express their natural right to freedom of religion or belief."On December 21, 2025, the last day of the four-day America Fest 2025, Erika Kirk invited Minaj on stage as the special guest. Kirk, the current CEO of Turning Point USA after the assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk, asked Minaj to impart words of wisdom for young men in America.

While answering Kirk, Minaj slipped up and referred to Vance as an assassin, leading to an awkward pause before the widow laughed it off and moved on.
"Don't be Newscum. Yes. See, there, young men, you have amazing role models like, handsome, dashing president. And you have amazing role models like the assassin JD Vance, our vice president, and when I say that..." Minaj said.Nicki Minaj also spoke about her faith, her support for Trump and his administration, and the alleged attack on Christians in Nigeria during her conversation with Erika Kirk. Minaj's appearance divided the internet, with the rapper receiving praise and criticism in equal parts. Vide President JD Vance commended Minaj on one of her talking points during the panel, calling it "profound."
Nicki Minaj said something at Amfest that was really profound. I'm paraphrasing, but she said, "just because I want little black girls to think they're beautiful doesn't mean I need to put down little girls with blonde hair and blue eyes." We all got wrapped up over the last few years in zero sum thinking. This was because the people who think they rule the world pit us against one another. @NICKIMINAJ rejects that. We all should.
Nicki Minaj deactivated her Instagram account following her AmFest appearance
Nicki Minaj has faced her own share of criticism for her appearance at the Turning Point USA event. According to Billboard, Minaj has deactivated her Instagram account following the backlash for her appearance at America Fest 2025. A visit to the 43-year-old rapper's account states the message, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”
Nicki Minaj deletes her Instagram after losing nearly 10M followers.
Meanwhile, Ruby Rose defended Nicki Minaj in a statement to TMZ on December 22, denying the possibility that Minaj's political stance could affect her fans who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
“She didn’t say anything about the LGBTQ+ community at all. Why do people think anyone over there is homophobic? I’m not homophobic, my assistant has been with me for 11 years; he’s Black and gay. I have a bunch of trans friend — so does Nicki. I don’t know why people twist our words or think because we endorse Trump that we just hate gay people and trans people. That’s just not true,” Rose said.Nicki Minaj's X account is still active at the time of writing this article.
