Huge update on Santos Escobar after he signed a "big money" deal with WWE and then disappeared - Reports

Santos Escobar seemingly signed a "big-money" deal with WWE, but it has been months now, and we haven't seen him. There has been a huge update from Fightful on his status.

It was previously reported on the Wrestling Observer Radio that since WWE signed him to a big-money deal, they wouldn't bring him back without any real plans for him. This means that with multiple reports, Escobar has, in fact, secured the big with a lucrative contract.

According to a report from Fightful Select, the latest update is that Santos Escobar is "on ice for the time being". While they signed him to a big enough deal to actually do something with him soon, there isn't much of an update beyond the fact that he was once backstage on RAW. While Fightful didn't confirm anything, it could indicate that he is slated for a return sooner rather than later. It seems to be a matter of timing.

Santos Escobar has been on the sidelines for a while now, and it's safe to assume that when he comes back, it will be for something significant, potentially kickstarting a new phase in his career where he faces less creative neglect and becomes a prominent character.

If you or any other fans were waiting patiently for Escobar, then the man himself has been doing that even more so. A few weeks ago, he posted a tweet with a mask on, putting a caption that said "Waiting patiently". This was an obvious tease of what is to come, as he knows that everybody is aware of the news regarding his re-signing with WWE.

Santos Escobar was reportedly AEW-bound, but WWE seemingly swooped in late to give him an offer he couldn't refuse. It's unclear whether they did this to simply block him from going to AEW, but considering the state of affairs in 2025 with TKO and their desire to show quarterly profits, it seems unlikely that WWE would throw big money for such a small reason unless it was a superstar they were actively pushing.

It could indicate that at atleast a few major names high up have a strong belief in Escobar and his potential as a top star.
