There has been a lot of speculation about a popular AEW star's contract. Now, new details have emerged about his contract status.

RJ City has been working with AEW since 2023. Since joining the Jacksonville-based promotion, RJ City has been involved in many roles. Fans recognize him as one of the panelists who appear along with Renee Paquette during the pre-shows for the PPVs. RJ was also involved in Toni Storm's vignettes. Apart from this, he was also a host on AEW's Hey! (EW). However, he recently revealed on an episode of Hey! (EW) that the show had come to an end. He also hosted a weekly YouTube series called RJ Makes Coffee in his Underwear, which has also come to an end. This has resulted in speculation that perhaps his contract was expiring.

According to reports from Fightful Select, RJ City's contract with Tony Khan's company is not expiring. However, the promotion had been planned to sunset Hey! (EW) for quite some time now while the decision to end RJ's coffee series was a personal one. RJ is actively involved in his other roles within the company and will continue to remain involved in creative and also work on new content.

AEW personality RJ City opened up on getting fired from WWE

Before joining AEW, RJ City worked for WWE between 2020 and 2021. He made regular appearances on WWE's The Bump and also had a recurring segment on the show called Wednesday Morning Wake-Up. Despite his entertaining segment and personality, he was released from the sports entertainment juggernaut.

During an appearance on the Rulebreakers podcast with Saraya, RJ City reflected on being fired from WWE.

"And then they got rid of me because it's a wonderful system and then I was like, 'Gee, the pandemic's ending,' I was like 'I'm gonna go back to the indies? I feel like 90 years old.' I really did, and I also saw people doing the exact thing they were doing before pandemic, and I was like 'This is unethical to me, this is creative malpractice.' So I was like, 'If I'm feeling like 90 years old, why not just be 90 years old?'" [12:35-13:13]

It will be interesting to see what's next for RJ City in All Elite Wrestling.
